Course content
|
Topics: Cross-curricular relationships in English teaching at primary school. Different variants and possibilities of the CLIL method implementation at primary school. Project work in AJ lessons at primary school. Basic realia of English-speaking countries in the teaching of English at primary school (geography, cultural customs, holidays). Intercultural relations in the teaching of English at primary school.

Learning outcomes
|
Upon completion of the course, students should be able to: o make appropriate use of cross-curricular relationships between English and other subjects at Primary school, o characterise and effectively use different types of CLIL activities, o understand the importance of the project method for implementing the concepts of activity-based and holistic learning, o to design and implement different forms of project work in the teaching of English at Primary school, o demonstrate a basic knowledge of language realities and understand the concept of intercultural awareness in the context of teaching English at Primary school, o apply the acquired theoretical knowledge in practical teaching (micro outcomes).

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Student performance, Systematic Observation of Student, Analyssis of the Student's Portfolio, Seminar Work
80% attendance, active participation in lessons, timely completion of all classwork tasks, timely submission and defence of a portfolio meeting all teacher´s requirements. Requirements for students with ISP: - students must complete all tasks set by the teacher during and at the end of the semester - attendance is not compulsory - at the end of the semester, students might be interviewed by the teacher to demonstrate that they independently acquired all the course content dealt with in the lessons
