Course content
Topics: Basic terminology (morpheme, morph, allomorph, word, parts of speech, etc.). Nouns (meaning and syntactic functions of nouns in English and Czech). Grammatical categories of nouns. Pronouns (pronoun classification, function in English and Czech). Adjectives (classification of adjectives, gradation). Adverbs. Numerals. Prepositions. Connectors and interjections. Upon completion of the course, students will be able to: " work with the basic terminology of English morphology, " define individual word types and their grammatical categories, " compare these grammatical categories with grammatical categories in their mother tongue, " analyse grammatical categories in English texts.
