survey of American literature from 1945 to the present

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic Lecture(Interpretation, Training), Dialogic Lecture (Discussion, Dialog, Brainstorming), Work with Text (with Book, Textbook)
  • Homework for Teaching - 24 hours per semester

Learning outcomes
This course aims to broaden the knowledge of the students about contemporary American literature. Attention is paid especially to text analysis. After finishing this course, students will be able to: - find their bearings within the field of contemporary American literature, based on theoretical knowledge and their own reading of selected contemporary playwrights, poets and fiction writers - understand the socio-cultural context for the production and subsequent analysis of a work of literature - work with a literary text as a source of cultural, social and historical information and attitudes - select texts suitable for use in English language teaching - proceed correctly with text use in English language teaching

Assessment methods and criteria
Analysis of Creative works (Music, Pictorial,Literary), Seminar Work, Written exam

-attendance -assigned readings -participation at class discussions -a written test based on readings -written teaching plan using a selected work of American Literature in ELT Individual study plan -students with an Individual Study Plan will, in compensation for the course attendance, submit a presentation in MS Powerpoint (10-25 slides, specification of the presentation is in the Moodle page of the course and in the course sylabus file), other course credit requirements are unchanged (the final written test, and so on) and will be met by the student in a format subject to approval by the instructor
