Learning outcomes
The course will focus on SOURCES Framework for Teaching with Primary and Secondary Sources. The students will learn to: - Access and integrate primary sources and teaching resources for instructional use. - Facilitate an inquiry-based primary source analysis using various analysis tools. - Demonstrate how primary sources can support various teaching strategies (e.g. literacy, inquiry-based learning, historical thinking, etc.). - Create primary source-based activities that help students engage in learning, develop critical thinking skills, and construct knowledge. - Gain a thorough understanding of effective instructional practices using primary sources and can identify exemplary learning experiences. - Identify exemplary learning experiences. - Create standards-based learning experiences integrating primary sources that exemplify effective practice. - Teach, assess, and reflect on their experiences using primary sources in instruction. - Evaluate primary source-based learning experiences. - Investigate the effects of primary source-based instruction on student learning.
