Course content
This course deals with both practical and theoretical aspect of teaching English such as: - different ways of approaching heterogeneous classes (learners with differnt abilities, knowledge, and skills), pair and group work (homogeneous and heterogeneous groups, differentiating difficulty level of tasks); - teaching learners with specific learning difficulties who are integrated into mainsteam classes (namely learners with dyslexia), modifying existing teaching materials and designing one's own material suitable for these learners; - assessing learners' performance and evaluating their progress (continuous assessment, aspects of formal and informal examining, different approaches to classification of learners' performance from the point of view of their age, principles underlying testing in a foreign language, formal and informal tests, standardiyed tests, principles of designing a communicative test).

Learning outcomes
Students will be able to: - use pair and group work efficiently in heterogenous classes, - recognise the needs and use appropriate remedial techniques when dealing with learners with SEN, - recognise a good test, - analyse ready-made tests, - create their own tests, - assess the learners' performance.

Credit requirements: oral presentation plus follow-up discussion or written essay (650-800 words). ISP: all the above + submission of tasks specified in Moodle.
