Course content
|
Psychological and pedagogical principles underlying foreign language learning. Individual differences in language development - characteristics of learners across different age and proficiency levels. Factors affecting foreign language learning and teaching (age, motivation, intelligence etc.). Roles of learners and pupils. The Framework Educational Programme - RVP (aims, requirements), Common European Framework of Reference, European Language Portfolio. Communicative approach. Language as skill, language as system (overview). Classroom interaction. Pairwork, groupwork. Teaching aids. Cross-curricular approach. CLIL.

Learning outcomes
|
The students will come across the main topics and terminology concerning the field of English language teaching methodology. They will become aware of the main theoretical and practical issues of teaching English to primary and lower-secondary pupils. They will learn the main concepts of teaching pupils across different ages and proficiency levels. They will develop classroom English - the language for classroom communication between the teacher and pupils. They will learn to use modern technology, coursebooks, dictionaries and other materials.
