Course content
In ST 2021 the course starts on March 2 1. Introduction to sustainability, analysis of global issues and trends 2. Sustainability, history, defining the basic concepts 3. Consumption and overconsumption, the view from the consumer 4. National strategies, global sustainability management 5. World resources, opportunities, development 6. Waste and waste management 7. The economic sustainability level 8. Social sustainability level 9. Sustainable business, sustainable business vision 10. Measuring sustainability

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to introduce the concept of sustainability to students. Issues and questions of sustainable consumption and life are important not only for so-called "green" consumers, but all people round the world. The financial crisis, social and environmental problems are increasing sense of responsibility of consumers and together changing economic and business environment. Customers use their money for buying more goods with value beyond the financial value, and this is helping sustainable business to grow. During the study will be introduced three levels of sustainable business - economic level, social and environmental. On the basis of case studies will be discussed sustainable business practices, new trends and specifics of the different business sectors, consumption and overconsumption, sources in business, global challenges and sustainability management. Students will be able to apply the course knowledge into practice in enterprises and propose options for improving sustainable business in the country.

Entry requirements: economic thinking, basic knowledge in economic terms

Assessment methods and criteria
Written exam, Dialog, Systematic Observation of Student, Seminar Work

Attendance 80 %. Active participation. Presentation on the chosen topic from the field of sustainable business in the class. LMS Moodle is used for this course. The students will find detailed information and materials there.
