Course content
Regional economic; economics and politics; Specification of the region; Economic and social factors affecting regional development and growth; Strategies of endogenous development; Regional relations; Mobility of the factors of production; Theory of localization and spatial structure; Company, its localization and surroundings; Agglomeration and urbanization effects; Polarization; Regional development in the Czech Republic and the EU.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is an explanation of theoretical and practical aspects of development of regions and knowledge about regional politics of CR and EU.
Students will gain an overview of regional economics and they will understand the basic terms and methods used in the regional and spatial economics. The gained knowledge will be applicable in further studies of economic disciplines and in economic practice.
Prerequisites
The course presupposes basic knowledge of economics.

Assessment methods and criteria
Seminar Work

The course is concluded with a colloquium. The students will prove their knowledge by a seminar paper (10-15 pages) on the assessment of development opportunities in selected region, village or city.
