Course content
Content 1. MS Windows - working with files, file managers, file conversion - secure backup, automatic storage, data carriers 2. MS Word 2010 and 2013 - description of the work environment and its configuration - customization of the toolbar, writing and editing of the text, document transfers - view, area marking, shifts in the text - format, installation and use of fonts - paragraph format, alignment, breakpoints and tabs, newspaper-style columns - definition of sections, predefined and user-created templates and styles, themes - bullets, numbered and multilevel lists - headers and footers, fields, page numbering, footnotes - registers and lists, content generation, cross-references, hyperlinks - objects contained in the document and their editing, building blocks - symbols, images, WordArt, SmartArt, text boxes, captions - tables in MS Word ? making of and using, using of formulas and functions, bookmarks, links - proofreading a document, a summary of typographic principles when creating a document - spelling, automatic corrections of a text, automatic format - document collaboration, comments, review - preview mode, printing the document - mail merge 3. Microsoft EXCEL 2010 and 2013 - description of the work environment and its configuration - workbook concept, templates, view, protected worksheets - data inserting and editing, format of data in cells - cell and area formats, themes and styles, conditional formatting - cell address, use of names and labels - formulas, functions, notes, comments - working with lists, AutoComplete - data sorting, automatic and advanced filter, group data and summary sheet - working with charts, chart types, definition of source data, chart editing, objects in the chart, trends, printing the chart - data import into Excel, collaboration of Word and Excel - print preview, customization of page layout, printing the cells.

Learning outcomes
Aim of the course is to improve students' common user computer skills and to develop their practical skills of using a text editor and a spreadsheet application on the user level. Students will learn to use modern techniques for document, spreadsheet and chart editing, and also to use applications efficiently to achieve high quality outputs. Microsoft Word and Excel of 2010 or higher versions are used for the purposes of the course.
Students will gain practical skills of document, spreadsheet and graph editing. They will be able to make high quality professional-looking outputs from the given source data in a short time. They will have a general knowledge of the possibility to use the acquired competences for e.g. writing of seminar papers or theses, but also for modern office work.

There are no required course prerequisites.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral exam, Analysis of Activities ( Technical works)

Course is concluded by colloquium. Requirements for course conclusion: 1. 75% attendance at least 2. being active in classes 3. presentation of knowledge gained in the course in a form of managing the final tasks with oral explanation of procedures used.
