Topics: 1. Industrial society and its development, outline of the economic history until the World War I 2. The basis for developing the Czechoslovakian independent economy and the economic policy of the interwar period 3. The first republic structure of the industrial and commercial business, the Trade Licensing Act 4. Banks roles, engagement of the Czechoslovakia in the international capital ties 5. Examples of the biggest industrial and trade companies 6. Economic development?s phases 1918-1938 7. Economic development of the Czechoslovakia after the Munich Agreement and during the occupation 8. Interventions into the multisectoral economy from 1945 to 1948; the Cold War; transition to the planned economic governance after 1949 9. Economic problems during the end of the 1950s and attempts to solve them 10. Socialistic economy according to the reformers? visions in the second half of the 60?s; distortion of the economic relationships in the 70?s and 80?s 11. Transformation of the Czechoslovakian economy and its development during the 1990?s

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of this course is to acquire basic knowledge about the economic situation in our country from the end of the 18th century to the end of the 20th century. The formation of the Czech economy during the ruling of Austria-Hungary will be followed by the analysis of the Czechoslovakian market economy between the World Wars (1918-1938) and of the period after the WWII within centrally planned economy. At the end of the course we will talk about the transformational changes after 1989. All chapters are practically based and designed in context, including the framing of the European development.
Student acquires basic knowledge about the economic situation in our country from the end of the 18th century to the end of the 20th century. Realization of the historical context in time order and in connection with the European development, realization of the contemporary phenomena?s roots and explanation of its cause.
