Course content
- evolution of travelling and tourism - definition, characteristics and qualities of trourism - services and service classifications - Trends in the development of tourism - legislative amendments in tourism - status of tourism in the economy - Marketing in tourism

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to provide students with basic knowledge on tourism, which is a dynamically developing sectors of the economy. International tourism accounts for about 25-30% of all global services and employs over 100 million people. In the course students learn the basic overview of the tourism market and are introduced to the basic objects of tourism. Attention is also paid to the organizations in tourism and marketing support of business. Most topics are accompanied by video clips from practice of tourism.
1. Student is able to describe the evolution of travelling during the ages. 2. Student describes the basic concepts and relations in tourism. 3. Student explains the position of tourism in the national and international economy. 4. Student defines peculiarities of the service economy and tourism economy. 5. Student enumerates and describes the statistical tools for monitoring and benchmarking of tourism and states organizations that tourism business shield. 6. Student will describe and provide examples for each of trends in tourism.
