Course content
1. Basic terms - banks, money, banking and financial system 2. Interest, discount, time value of money 3. The central bank and monetarz policy 4. Comercial banking and non-bank institutions 5. Organizational structure and management of a bank 6. Costs, Income, evaluation of a bank´s management 7. Assets, liabilities of a bank, banking operations, financial transactions 8. Risk in banking 9. Regulation and oversight 10. Banking in the EU

Learning outcomes
The goal of this course is to introduce students to the basic principles of the banking system and its role in a country's economy. By attending this course, the students will learn to competently think about money and banks, and will be introduced to basic banking operations, how a bank is managed, and the role of the central bank in the system.
The students are capable of thinking about money and banking operations and can make decisions regarding their own finances. They can explain in general terms how a bank works as an organization and institution, as well as the role of the central bank in the overall system.
Prerequisites
Prerequisites and co-requisites for studying the subject of banking is mastering basic economic disciplines and selected areas of finance.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written exam

Obtaining enough points in the final exam.
