Course content
a) introduction to typography basic rules b) introduction to LATEX c) installation of LATEX; collaborative online LATEX editor Overleaf d) document typesetting basic rules and LATEX commands e) lists and tables in LATEX f) footnotes, images/tables/sections references g) BibTeX citations and list of references h) graphics creation of graphs, images editing i) typesetting mathematical formulae in LATEX j) presentations in LATEX using document class Beamer

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to familiarize the student with basics of computer typography with typesetting program LATEX, so the student could create well arranged and easy-to-read document. LATEX is a tool ensuring effortless work with links and citations (e.g. citation norm could be changed using one simple command) including automatic creation of the table of content and the list of references. Student will adopt basics of computer typography, basics of graphic editing and typesetting of mathematical formulae. The student will be able to typeset an article or thesis in LATEX.

Assessment methods and criteria
Student performance, Systematic Observation of Student

Attendance max. two absences are acceptable. Active work in seminars. Presentation of acquired skills by typesetting a several page-length LATEX document (for example a seminar work from another course). Students are adviced to bring their own notebooks.
