Course content
The course focuses on work as a social concept. Evolution of approaches to study of work, theories that are related to study of work, relationship of work and occupation, changes in work, the influence of work on the formation of company structure and research issues in the field of work. Knowledge and skills: Students will be able to define the concept of work sociologically, to compare the social and economic characteristics of the work, to determine the factors influencing the individual's access to work, to justify the difference of the character of the work in the industrial and post-industrial society, to characterize the antithesis to the society of work. Brief Curriculum: 1. Work as a social and sociological phenomenon. 2. Historical and theoretical sources of sociology of work: Karel Marx, Émile Durkheim, Max Weber, 3. Theory of Labor in the 20th Century: Human Relations, Organizational Cultures, Critical Theories, Systemic Theories, Theory of Rational Action, ... 4. Work organization in industrial society: Taylorism, Fordism and the problem of labor control and labor flexibility in capitalism 5. Organization of work in post-industrial society: globalization of work and transformation of work 6. Occupation, Employment, Unemployment, Qualification vs. Employment competences as a sociological problem 7. Work and social structure of society, work and education 8. Astrictive inequalities of the world of work: ethnicity, gender, ... 9. Work-related research and its methodology

Learning outcomes
Students will be able to define the concept of work sociologically, to compare the social and economic characteristics of the work, to determine the factors influencing the individual's access to work, to justify the difference of the character of the work in the industrial and post-industrial society, to characterize the antithesis to the society of work.
