| Course content |
|
The cultural-historical and literary seminars deal with all manifestation of Jewish culture and art as well as social, political and media events. The contents of the literature seminars either refer to individual periods/ epochs of Jewish literature, or they are defined as an overview of the work of a specific author, several related authors, a developmental study of one genre, one or more motifs, topics or figural types, etc. In the seminar, the emphasis lies especially on work with particular texts of primary or secondary literature and on the creative work of students.

The aim of the seminars is to offer an overview of the culture, art and literary heritage of Jewish communities.
The resulting competence after passing this module comprises further knowledge of questions regarding Jewish cultural, especially literary heritage, the ability to analyse a text/ scientific study, which is complex with respect to content and language, and to react to it through a short paper. |

The course is aimed for students od Jewish Studies, German Philology and interested students from other study programms.

Student performance, Seminar Work
Students are obliged to prepare for every seminar (set reading list) and participate actively in discussions. Each student will prepare a paper on a selected topic to be presented during the seminar. They will obtain credits at the end of the seminar. The maximum absence rate is 20%. |
