Course content
Main topics: The subject of psychology, its position within the systém of social sciences. Theory of psyche, its biological determination. Interaction of biology and culture in psyche. Fundamental psychological processes and their characteristics (gnostic, motivational, emotional). Personality (needs, motivation, abilities, character, temperament). Developmental psychology (intro). Periodisation and concept of developmental psychology. Prenatal, neonatal, infant, toddler, pre-school, school age, puberty, adolescence, adult and older age period. Characteristics of the individual periods. Body development. Cognitive development. Emotional development. Socialization.

Learning outcomes
The subject is conceived as a propaedeutic one. Students get acquainted with elementary psychological nomenclature, psychological processes and their characteristics, psychological theories of personality, emotional experience, cognitive processes and human behaviour. The subject helps to form relationship to the future profession of students, develops professional competencies and teach the students to apply the theories in practice. The subject provides information on typical ways of experiencce, thinking and conduct in individual stages of a human life.
After completing the subject students will be knowledgeable in principal concepts of psychology, fundamental processes, psychological functions and behaviour of a human, processes and events in individual development stages of life.
