Course content
|
1.lesson The hierarchy of medical scientific publications (Evidence Based Medicine), differentiation of primary and secondary literary sources, the basic orientation in scientific text and its structure, practical examples of searching in databases (e.g. PUBMED, EBSCO, Science Direct, Google scholar). 2.lesson The formal text layout framework and structure of diploma thesis. Citation standard (references to the literature in the text). A specific strategy and realization process of the thesis making at faculty of Health Sciences. 3.lesson Discussion of formal and stylistic errors in short homework paper.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to present students the hierarchy of medical scientific publications with respect to differentiation of primary and secondary literary sources, the structure of the scientific text and practical examples of the searching in the databases. The attendance on this course should help students with proper text layout framework and structure of their diploma thesis, the citation standard (literature references in the paper) and a specific strategy and realization process of the thesis making at faculty of Health Sciences.
Students will know the methodology of independent processing of the final thesis, the formal layout requirements and will be able to elaborate a thesis likely to be successfully defended at the final state examination.

Assessment methods and criteria

Dialog, Seminar Work
Prepare short homework paper (outline of the theoretical part of diploma thesis). In the text should be incorporate at least 5 english scientific papers and the text should respect formal structure of diploma thesis.
