It focuses on more detailed information on the basic types of degradation of agricultural and forest land in the Czech Republic and worldwide. Describes indicators of soil quality evaluation. From chemical degradation it focuses on acidification and soil alkalinization, soil salinisation, soil intoxication with potentially risk elements. Remedial measures are also discussed. Problematic is the loss of organic matter and its excessive mineralization. Types of physical degradation (erosion, compaction) and possible remedial measures are also discussed. Attention is also paid to the monitoring of foreign substances in soils and soil degradation, including the use of geographic information systems for this monitoring, approaches to improve and restore soil quality. Separate part consists of legal norms and bonitation of soils.
