Course content
Students are provided with basic information on the genesis of the mineral component of soil and its classification, organic mass of soil, living elements of soil, sorption, and colloidal properties of soil, and on the physical and chemical characteristics of different types of soil. Attention is also paid to soil-forming processes and classification of soil both from an international point of view (WRB classification 2014) and systems of classification used within the Czech Republic (CZ), including the latest valid - TKSP. Of equal importance is the range of soil types throughout the world and in CZ, and its regularity. An integral part is information on quantitative and qualitative protection, incl. EU and Czech legal standards. Within the exercises students will conduct basic analysis of soil including methods used in soil biology, they will become acquainted with maps used in pedology and in field exercises they will study basic soil types central Moravia.
