Course content
Historical development. Generation, sources, occurrence and types of waste. Strategy of waste management. Waste dumping (types of dump sites, building dump sites, technical aspects of dump sites, processes within dump sites, harmful effect of gas and liquid emissions, dumping waste in CZ.) Thermal treatment of waste (waste incineration, technology of pyrolysis, hydrogenation methods, other thermal methods, incinerators in CZ). Contaminated soil. Composting organic waste. Anaerobic fermentation. Biodegrading. Physical and chemical methods of waste-processing. Information systems in waste-management. Conformity with EU. Legal aspects of waste management in CZ. Types of waste according to the Waste List. Assessment of current waste management in CZ.

Learning outcomes
The course aims at presenting actual information and procedures from the branch. Major approaches, conceptual and theoretical topics are listed in syllabus.
Comprehension - Describe the basic legislation in waste management - Describe the types of waste, their origin and the possibility of their disposal - Explain the relationship: raw material - product - waste - Describe the principles of waste separation and processing of secondary raw materials
Prerequisites
Basic knowledges of legislation of the Czech republic.
