Learning outcomes |
Using model examples, the course presents diverse approaches to the analysis and interpretation of early modern architecture in a Czech and global context. It focuses on examples of profane and sacral, private, public, memorial and sepulchral buildings, exemplifying the typological variety of architecture from the 15th to the 18th century. At the same time, the case studies are presented as special "building tasks" that allow us to understand the specifics of early modern building practice in the coordinates of social, political, cultural and religious relations, in which buildings appear not as passive artifacts, but as active media. Materials and sources for the analysis are discussed as well.
The student understands the character of early modern architecture and familiarizes him/herself with the analytical tools of its interpretation. |

Dialog
Active participation in the course, verified by controlled work with study materials. Final presentation in ppt format in the form of a "conference talk". |
