The course is intended as an introduction to the history of European art. Lectures in the summer semester will be focused on art from Mannerism to the Duchamp's Fountain. Artistic styles, important personalities and main works of art will be presented in the historical and cultural context of each period. The overview of the situation in Czech lands is also an integral goal of the course.
The absolvent of this course will acquire basic knowledge of the history of art from Mannerism to the beginning of the 20th century. At the end of the course student should be able to understand and explain main periods of European Art in epochs mentioned above.
