- The principle of photographs, technical preconditions of media, techniques 19th century (Niepce, Daguerre, Bayard, Talbot). - One over the lens (Archer, Disderi, Nadar, Hill) - Photography as a tool gripping the world (du Camp, le Gray, negro, Salzmann, Bisson) - The war as a real suffering (Fenton, Brady, O'Sullivan) - Pictorialism and Camera Work, the beginnings of film and color photos - The beginnings of avant-garde photo - Surrealism (Atget, Bellmer, Ray, Tabard) - Constructivism and New Objectivity (Bauhaus and Soviet avant-garde) - Photo as a witness - the beginnings of social photography (Hine, Evans, Lange, Sander, Strand)

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the development of the medium of photography from its beginnings to the present day. Attention is paid to the technical aspects of photography, the "transformation" of the media in utilitarian artistic medium. She considers the relationship development in the context of development of photo art as a whole.
Students should be able to basic knowledge of historical photographic techniques, he should be able to explain their technological nature and visually identify them. Furthermore, should receive orientation in the history of art photography and get acquainted with the most important personalities and their work in the context of art as a whole. Last but not least, it should understand the specifics Photo - depending on its mechanical nature - and thus a distinctive "reading" the resulting works of art.
