Course content
Advanced interpretations of iconographic cycles. Ovidius, Metamorfózy, ikonografie bohů a héroů, výběr z témat: Iris a Alkyoné, Adonis, Amor, Antiope, Arachne, Argo, Arion, Atlanta a Hippomenes, Atlas, Aktaion, Aurora, Bellerofont, Berenice, Kallisto, Kefalus, Chiron, Clizia, Apollon a Koronida, Apollon a Dafne, Deukalion a Pyrha, Oidipus, Endimion, Hero a Leander, Euridice, Faeton, Filemon a Baukis, Flora, Galatea, Ganimedes, Ikarus, Ifigenie, Ila, Latona, Marsyas, Midas, Meleagrus, Perseus a Meduza, Perseus a Andromeda, Thésues a Minotaur, Niobe, Pan, Parky, Pandora, Pyramus a Thisbe, Prometheus, Proserpina, Psýché, Silén, Vertumnus, Sýsifos, Charon, ad.; alegorie a personifikace, ctnosti, štěstěna, smysly, charaktery, vanitas atd.; Literární předlohy: Ludovico Ariosto, Giovanni Battista Marino, Pastor Fido, Torquato Tasso, rostliny a květiny, zvířata

Learning outcomes
The course will give on examples ranging from Antique to modern period an overview about the basic themes of the profane iconography in art history, literary sources, antique mythology, allegories, symbols, introduction in emblematic and the relationship between profane and Christian iconography.
The student will get the deeper orientation in the profane iconography.

Assessment methods and criteria
Seminar Work, Written exam

Final test and submission of a seminar paper.
