Learning outcomes |
The series of lectures and seminars will present the basic themes and topics of sacred art from the early Christian era to the 21st century, within the framework of various art forms. It will introduce students to major literary sources as well as terminology, methodology, literature on Christian iconography and iconographic handbooks. When completing this course, students will be able to recognize the subjects of works of art of Christian iconography. They will also be familiar with the changes in iconographic themes and the ways in which they are represented in different temporal and geographical contexts and will be able to make basic iconographic interpretations of these works in a contemporary context.
