Course content
The course is divided into thematic units: 1. Introduction to Christian Iconography. Methodology of Iconological Interpretation. 2. Sources of Christian Tradition. The role of councils. 3. Early Christian iconography. 4. Arianism. 5. Old Testament in Christian Iconography. 6. New Testament in Christian Iconography. 7. Christ. 8. Marian Images. 9. Most Holy Trinity. 10. Passion stories. 11. Crucifixion. 12. Last Judgment and Apocalypse. 13. Iconography of the Saints.

Learning outcomes
The task of the course is to give a basic overview of Christian iconography from a historical, geographical and chronological point of view. The course will enable students to focus on iconographic themes, which is necessary for an adequate analysis of the work of art and its content.
Basic knowledge of Christian iconography in the region of Latin western and estern Christian world.
Prerequisites
Subject is designated for students of Bachelor study of History of Fine Arts.

Assessment methods and criteria
Student performance

Detailed knowledge of the lectured substance in all major aspects. Ability to apply the acquired knowledge to the iconographic analysis of artworks.
