Course content
|
Growth and development of the child. Age specific developmental variability including somatic, psychomotor, immunological changes and social interactions. Nutritional disorders: malabsorptive disorders, inflammatory bowel diseases, cystic fibrosis. Congenital anomalies of digestive systém including oral cavity. Allergy in children. Asthma (diagnosis and treatment), anaphylaxis. Bleedings disorders (hemophilia, thrombocytopenia, DIC). Infectious diseases, immunization. The endocrine systém: Diabetes mellitus, disorders of thyroid gland and calcium-phosphate homeostasis. Approach to the child with chronic illness (counseling, education, coordination, genetic issues, psychological support). Compliance in pediatrics.

Learning outcomes
|
Theoretical and practical education is focused on the basics of paediatrics, diagnostics and therapy of the most common children diseases, especially with accent on the oral cavity. Another goal is inform and introduce students into the children emergency medicine they could meet in dentistry.
Student will be able to use new knowledge in dental examination of children. Knowledge about the children diseases will help him to prevent dental complications in the children care. Student will be able to safely recognize and treat various acute conditions occurring by providing dental care for children.
