Course content
Developmental characteristics and specifics of individual age groups from birth to adolescence, practical assessment of physical and psychomotor development, the different course of diseases in children and adults, their diagnosis and general therapeutic principles in children. Special stress is placed on chronic diseases, those requiring rehabilitation care in newborns and infants with slow psychomotor development, taking care of children with chronic respiratory diseases (mucoviscidosis, bronchial asthma, recurrent obstructive bronchitis). Care for children with CNS disorders - congenital disorders, cerebral palsy, trauma, inflammatory diseases of the brain and meninges. Principles of proper nutrition in infants, nutritional disorders. Diseases of the bones and joints (osteomyelitis, juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, haemophilia). The most common congenital developmental disorders.

Learning outcomes
The topic of this course is an introduction to the Pediatrics. Students will be informed about the child´s growth and development, nutrition in the first three years of life and the main health issues in different age groups. The pathology of newborn period will be widely discussed as this can have the major impact on the child´s healthy and development. The preventive scope of the Pediatrics will be emphasized.
Students will be able to understand the influence of the disease on the child´s development and will be able to use a different approaches to the management of newborns, infants, children and adolescents.

Basic knowledge anatomie.

Oral exam

100% active attendance at seminars and clinical training. Checking of knowledge (written test, colloquium)
