Learning outcomes
This course explores Taiwan?s foreign policy and how Taiwan is perceived and received worldwide. Following introductory sessions on Taiwan?s history, politics, economy, society, and human rights?led by the lecturer and invited guest speakers?the course delves into foreign policy. Students will choose a region or country (for example Czechia, Angola, Japan, etc.) to examine its stance toward Taiwan, including a short analysis of two questions from an original survey on international perceptions of Taiwan. They will then present their findings to the class. The lecturer will provide step-by-step guidance (one class out of 12 or 13, will be dedicated to the survey), and no prior experience with survey data analysis or knowledge on Taiwan is required. Students are expected to attend classes, actively participate in discussions, deliver a class presentation, and complete a final exam (choosing 4 out of 5 short essay questions).
