Course content
Student will complete a placement focused on interpreting and/or translation in a host organisation, which he/she will arrange himself/herself with regard to his/her field of study or in consultation with the supervisor (see KAS website for more information), for a minimum of 200 working hours. The work activity of the traineeship must be related to the field of study and mostly involve interpreting/translation. The student must consult with and have approved by the supervisor in advance to have the work experience accepted. The aim of the internship is to enable students to get acquainted with the real situation in the given fields, the working environment and with possible future employers, and to verify the acquired theoretical knowledge and to deepen the ability to use it in practice. Internships can also be completed in host organisations cooperating with Dept. of Asian Studies. The positions in these host organisations will be advertised at the beginning of the semester if the HO offers an internship in the particular semester.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to gain work experience focused on interpreting and translation in a domestic or foreign host organisation and to get acquainted with the working environment as well as practical application of theoretical knowledge.
In preparation for their future employment, students will gain work (non-teaching) experience in a domestic or foreign host organisation with a focus on interpreting and translation, put their knowledge into practice and learn how it works in a real working environment. They will learn the basic skills of working in a company (business, production, etc.) and expand their knowledge and practical experience of their application.
Prerequisites
Advanced knowledge of a specific Asian language, an interest in gaining work experience and familiarisation with the real working environment with a focus on the interpreting and translation profession.

Student performance, Certificate of Graduation of Internship, Final Report

In order to gain credit for this course, the student will complete a 200h work experience (non-teaching) focused on interpreting and/or translation in a domestic or foreign host organisation (HO). The course can also be recognised by combining several work experiences for a total of the required duration. The work experience must be in line with the field of study. The student will arrange the work experience himself/herself, the choice and extent of which will be consulted with the supervisor. Work experience of at least 200 hours with confirmation from the employer documented as follows: 1. a final report with an evaluation of the student's performance by the HO mentor, confirmed by the HO 2. a work timelog of 200 hours confirmed by the HO Further information, including templates for the final documentation, is available on the KAS website (https://kas.upol.cz/studentum-kas/praxe/praxe-dasprx1-3/).
