The aim of this course is to introduce a wider range of history of Japan and East Asia since the end of the 19th century, so that the students are able to realize the positions and roles of Japan and other countries in the region. Discussions in classes should make students think more deeply about the circumstances, causes and consequences of various events of modern East-Asian history. The course is taught in English and is also offered to foreign incoming students.
Students get a deeper knowledge of modern development of East-Asian countries, and are able to explain the present situation of these countries based on the 20th century development of this region. They also extend their English vocabulary.
