Course content
The lesson has the following structure: a short vocabulary test on the topic from the previous lesson, a student presentation, a short discussion on the given topic in Czech, a discussion on the given topic in Japanese based on preparation before the lesson, reading in the lesson, watching and analyzing the news or a TV discussion from Japanese television. Thematically, the subject is divided into 3 areas: economy, politics, society. Current topics will be discussed, which may also concern long-term questions such as: - Low birth rate - Overtourism - Immigration - Changes in the political scene - EV cars - EXPO - Relations with China - And another. The course is taught in Czech and Japanese.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to deepen students' knowledge of current topics in Japanese economy, politics and society through Japanese media. Students will expand their vocabulary in the areas covered and improve their ability to discuss topics in the Japanese language. Reading texts from the daily press and their translation into Czech are part of the teaching method.
After completing the course, the student is able to navigate the current issues of the Japanese economy, politics and society. At the same time, the student will improve their understanding of Japanese printed and spoken news and be able to express their opinion and discuss a whole range of issues in these areas.
Prerequisites
The course is designed for graduate students in the field of Asian studies with a specialization in Japanese language and culture.

Assessment methods and criteria
Analysis of linguistic, Systematic Observation of Student, Written exam

Active participation in classes, homework preparation consisting of reading an article for discussion in class, 60% success rate in vocabulary tests, 70% attendance.
