Course content
1. Legal relation of sickness insurance, its origin and termination; personal extent of insurance. 2. Sickness insurance: material extent of insurance, conditions of claim for benefits, calculation of benefits, assessment of temporary work inability. 3. Pension legal relations (term, kinds). Personal extent of insurance. 4. Pension insurance: kinds of pensions, pension scheme and pension formula (calculation). 5. Organization of the branch of sickness and pension insurance. Competency and scope of authority of individual bodies of social security. 6. Proceedings in the branch of sickness and pension insurance. Decision making on sickness and pension insurance benefits. Revision proceedings. 7. Social security contributions and contribution to the state employment policy. Payment of contributions in case of individual payers. 8. Health insurance. Participation in insurance. Rights and duties of the insured. Payment of insurance of individual payers. 9. Life and existential minimum: term, application in social security. 10. State social support: definition features, meaning, organization, proceedings on providing benefits of state social support. 11. Social relief: benefits and services of social care for seriously disabled citizens, organization of social relief and proceedings. 12. Social relief: relief in material need, assessment of material need, benefits of material need relief. 13. Social services: contribution for care for a person dependent on help of other person. Facilities of social services, forms of social services.

Learning outcomes
Subject called Legal clinic of social security is focused on practical legal help to clients in the area of social security law. This area of law is very diverse, dynamic and the legal regulation is very often amended which leads to a regular citizens having usually problems with orientation in their rights and duties connected with burdensome social events occurring in their lives and lives of their families. Students have an opportunity to get to know this area from practical point of view, get ready for providing legal help, informing wide public and mainly the socially weak on options of social protection in specific burdensome situations. Within the legal clinic, collaboration will be started with Regional Court of Ostrava, the Olomouc branch, where the administrative court operates. As a part of practice, students may study files related to review of administrative bodies' decision in social security cases and draft brief statements.
Students will connect theoretical knowledge of social security law with practice based on providing legal aid to clients. They will gain new experience and knowledge at the Regional Court.
Prerequisites
The completion of this course is not conditioned upon completion of any other courses.

Student performance

Colloquy is obtained based on active participation of the student on course activities and development of appropriate knowledge and skills.
