Course content
1. Challenges of Human Rights protection - material law 2. Challenges of Human Rights protection - procedural law 3. International mechanisms of Human Rights Protection - theory and practice 4. International judicial protection of Human Rights - theory and practice 5. Standards of Human Rights in the Czech Republic - contemporary issues

Learning outcomes
Optional subject called Student laboratory of Human Rights follows compulsory subjects Fundamental Rights 1 and Fundamental Rights 2 and Public International Law and it is supposed to provide the students with opportunity for checking and practicing acquired knowledge and skills. The work within the subject is divided in two parallel activities. The first one consists of simulated resolution of current human rights cases, detailed monitoring of decision making of international human rights protection bodies (ECtHR, ACtHR, IACHR, UNHRC, HRC, DESCE, CERD) and practical training of procedural rules of operation of human rights oriented international bodies. The second one consists of resolving current human rights issues arising in the Czech Republic. Partners of Centre for clinical legal education, non-profit organizations (e.g. Human Rights League), participate on this activity.
Students who have completed this course will gain the knowledge necessary to understand the features of law.

Student performance

It is essential that those students who would like to pass the course must have attendance within the scope set by the seminar teacher and succeed in the colloquium.
