In this course, students will combine theoretical knowledge from various branches of law so that they can comprehensively understand the effect of human rights in practice. At the same time, they will further develop legal skills such as analyzing and resolving legal cases, writing legal documents and more. They will also increase their competence in the field of human rights and will become more aware of the value elements in law. Update for 2019/2020: Subject Human Rights Clinic will be taught every Wednesday from 11:30 to 13:00. Teaching will be in English because it will be largely led by prof. Lisa Radtke Bliss of the Georgia State University College of Law, who will be staying as a Fulbright Distinguished Chair at Palacký Law Faculty. Prof. Bliss is one of the world's leading experts in clinical legal education with an interdisciplinary approach, particularly in the field of human rights and health law. Within the course, students will engage in activities and problems that prof. Bliss uses when teaching her with students in the USA, through which students of Palacký Law Faculty will develop their understanding of human rights. Students will also be working with prof. Bliss on a semestral project that can take the form of a legal analysis or amicus brief (as agreed with the professor).
In this subject, students will link theoretical knowledge of different branches of law to better understand complex functioning of human rights in practice. They will develop legal skills such as legal analysis and problem solving, legal drafting and others. They will also develop their competence in area of human rights law and acquire deeper understanding of values in law.
