Learning outcomes
This course is based on the Policy Clinic teaching method, which is basd on legal analysis of real socially relevant problems, but without involvement of a specific client. The course allows students to learn about the practical aspects of human rights protection with an emphasis on the national level. In this course, students will integrate theoretical knowledge from different areas of law, so that they gain a more comprehensive understanding of the operation of human rights in practice. They will also further develop legal skills such as legal case analysis, problem solving or legal writing. They will also increase their human rights sensitivity and develop a deeper understanding of the value elements in law. The teaching will be conducted in such a way that students will form working groups and work on specific human rights issues with the aim of achieving real change or increasing the level of protection. In this academic year, the course will focus in particular on the issue of the right to housing for people with health problems who may harass their surroundings or provoke negative reactions, but also on topic of limitation of access to education because of lack of wheelchair accessible high schools, and last but not least the topic of ethical limitations in large language models in the area of human rights.
In this subject, students will link theoretical knowledge of different branches of law to better understand complex functioning of human rights in practice. They will develop legal skills such as legal analysis and problem solving, legal drafting and others. They will also develop their sensitivity in area of human rights law and acquire deeper understanding of values in law.
