Learning outcomes
The course is intended for all students who want to work in any office or institution. It will focus on writing specific administrative documents such as requests, notices or forms in a comprehensible way. Special attention will be given to administrative decisions. These are one of the most challenging clerical disciplines. During the course, students will work with real official texts, or even administrative files, across legal areas (misdemeanour law, foreign law, internal administration, etc.). In particular, they will learn: " what is required by the norms of administrative law (especially the Administrative Code) and what is not, " explain clearly and unambiguously the reasons for issuing an official document, " identify the subject of the proceedings, the parties or the legal provisions, " to formulate requests, statements and instructions in such a way that the party of the proceedings can easily understand whether something is required of him and what its other options are, " to work with the materials for the decision, etc. The course will consistently alternate theory and practice. The theoretical introduction will always be followed by practical training. Writing is not a discipline of knowledge, it is a skill that is only consolidated through practice. Students will therefore be assessed on their own production of texts, not on their knowledge of particular phenomena. The course will be taught by Jana Šamánková, lawyer and legal writing consultant, and Michaela Glozygová, lawyer at the Office of the Public Defender of Rights.
Students will improve their ability to write clear and concise administrative documents. They will be ready to put their skills into practice immediately.
