Course content
|
In the course, students will broaden their theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of communication, especially professional and work communication. The course will focus on practising communication skills through various activities (role-plays, case studies, etc.). We will focus on Plain English and writing, communication styles in AJ, writing emails and letters in AJ, Intercultural communication, stylistics, vocabulary, and grammar.

Learning outcomes
|
This course is designed for students who will use English as their professional language, so it is taught in English only. Through a variety of activities (e.g. role-play, case studies, group work) students will focus on developing communication skills, and attention will be paid to developing written expression so that students are well prepared to use English as their main language of communication. The course also includes grammar and vocabulary necessary for the development of writing. During the course, students will learn how to express themselves effectively in writing, as well as improve reading skills and better understand texts in their field of study.
After passing the course Business Communication 1 students will be able to use the grammar (present tenses, verb patterns, present perfect, comparison, articles) and vocabulary (units 1-6 of the coursebook) well. At the end of the whole course they will be able to prove that their English skills are on level B1+ according to the Common European Framework of Reference. They will also have improved their abilities to use English in a professional environment and to perform work related tasks in English.

Prerequisites
|
English language on level B1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference. This includes all the language skills, i. e. reading, listening, writing and speaking. Students' grammar and vocabulary skills must also be on the required level.

Analysis of linguistic, Systematic Observation of Student, Written exam
- Active participation in classes (min. 80%) - Students must arrive prepared for class - Completion of assignments - Credit test in the form of a written test - the structure and content of the test is based on the study material
