Learning outcomes
|
In the first semester of the course, students will do the first five units of the English File Intermediate Plus coursebook (4th edition), which develop their communication abilities and include activities related to all four language skills. More focus will be put on receptive skills (listening, reading comprehension) in this semester. A systematic development of students' ability to communicate in their study field language is also part of the course. Before entering the course, students can check their language skills in the placement test at their disposal after enrolling in their studies (http://placement-test.ff.upol.cz). Students must be at least on level B1 to be able to attend this two-semester course.
After passing the course students will be able to use the grammar (modal verbs, present simple and continuous tenses, present perfect simple and continuous tenses, relative clauses) and vocabulary (units 1-5 of the coursebook) well. At the end of the whole course (AJ5-AJ6) they will be able to prove that their language skills are on level B1+ according to the Common European Framework of Reference.
