Course content
|
Basic communication in Portugese is a necessary conditon for clinical rotations at universities in Portugal. Simultaneously, enables a better understanding of culture to students. Students will master basic structure of Portuguese, its phonetics, grammar (eg. the system of pronouns, 3 groups of regular verbs, the most frequent irregular verbs, present simple tense and future tense), vocabulary related to everyday conversation (greetings, phrases of politeness, topics like eg. food and meals, making phone calls, personal data etc.) and vocabulary related to medicine (parts of human body, basic illnesses and diseases, basic phrases used in conversation between a doctor and a patient).

Learning outcomes
|
Acquisition of basic knowledge of Portuguese and basic communication skills. Acquisition of reading and translating skills and of basic medical terms which enables the students basic conversation with both medical staff and pacients during their study stay in Portugal. LLP programme set up.
Encompassment of basic conversation, reading and understanding texts in Portuguese. Encompassment of basic medical vocabulary necessary for basic communication in hospitals.
