Course content
|
Students will make all operations with plant material in relation to activities developed by staff members of Botanical garden (Department of Botany) in greenhouses and on fields in Olomouc - Holice and in Botanic garden. Students will propagate and cultivate plants and will assist in preparation of special ehibitions. The main aim is to improve manual skills in garden work, which is necesarry in teaching, research and experimental practices. Exercises will be held in greenhouses and on experimental fields in Olomouc - Holice and in Botanic garden. Practical exercises will be aimed at actual problems of plant cultivation in relation to growth period and cultivation conditions. They will be thematically connected to following topics: - Sources of biological material and they traits; - Conservation of biological material; - Methods of plant cultivation - substrates, pots, technologies; - Ways of regeneration plant regeneration.

Students will be introduced to principles of plant cultivation.
After attending the course, student should be able to: Apply knowledge of plant morphology, physiology, taxonomy, genetics, plant protection; Work with plant material.
