Learning outcomes
|
The course focuses on the biology of bacteria and viruses.
Student should be able to (after attending the course): - Select and employ methods for determination of microorganisms in various environments/samples (water, air, soil, plant material, medicinal samples) - Relate cell composition to staining and microscopy techniques - Apply principles of disinfection/sterilization to avoid growth of bacteria and microscopic fungi - Show how microorganisms interact with other organisms (plants, fungi, animals, humans) - Apply knowledge of bacterial genetics in plant biotechnology strategies - Construct a timeline of significant events in the history of microbiology and human diseases
