Womenomics and changes in position of women 6. Structure of job market and socioeconomic differentiation 7. Life-long employment and its sustainability 8. Aging population 9. Poverty and its causes 10. Educational system and formation of social classes 11. Urnabisation and depopulation of the country 12. Migration and Japan 13. Multicultural coexistence 14. civil society and movements 15. Impact of 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami on Japanese society

Learning outcomes
The course is focused on both theoretical and practical level of problems of contemporary Japanese society. The currents trends in society are studied in the context of elementary categories of social stratification (ethnicity, gender, economic background, generations).
Students learn to know the elementary stratification of Japanese society and the prevailing problems of contemporary Japanese society.
Prerequisites
The course is aimed at Japanese philology students.
