Course content
|
The selection of texts covers both literary texts and academic texts (primarily on history).The translation exercise is conducted so that the content should be as accurate as possible, as well as stylistically motivated. Because Chinese and Czech are typologically very different languages, students are encouraged to solve not only purely lexical problems, but also problems arising directly from animorfism of both languages. The literary texts are emphasizing the stylistic aspects of artistic texts, and stylistic differences between various Chinese authors. Students are also led to an analytical approach to the text and attempts to convert it within its specific style. For translation, texts with complex structure, typologically different from Czech, are particularly acdentuated.

Learning outcomes
|
This exercise aims at the deepening the practical management of translation from Chinese into Czech. In addition to the prowess of practical exercises designed to introduce students to the problems of the theory of translation.

Prerequisites
|
The course is intended for graduate students studetnům field CHINESE PHILOLOGY. It builds on the experience that students have already acquired through their own reading of Chinese texts or reading in other courses.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Student performance, Analysis of linguistic, Systematic Observation of Student
The attendance is mandatory. Students must prepare the text before each session. By Sunday 5pm after the session, they submit by email their translation. The exercise is evaluated by four credits for both semesters. Certifications are awarded on the basis of active attendance, regular vocabulary tests, and written translations.
