This intensive course introduces and explores the dominant social science theories and approaches employed in Asian studies. It will equip students with an understanding of the research techniques as well as the theoretical principles which underpin these techniques. This course is vital for students who intend to write scientific papers and theses in contemporary Asian studies. The learning will be comparative in method and international in focus. An emphasis will be put on comparing China both empirically and theoretically with countries in East Asia and beyond.
