The aim of this exercise, realized in three hours a week, is to create and then continuously strengthen the student's ability to understand Chinese spoken discourse and develop skills in the practical use of it. This exercise is closely connected with the courses of Chinese phonetics (basic pronunciation) and Chinese Grammar (basic morphology and syntax). During the winter and summer semester, students are acquainted with the technique of listening and creation of spoken texts in modern colloquial Chinese. Through various types of exercise (drill), students are encouraged to acquire the proper pronunciation habits and practice the theoretical knowledge of the phonological system of the Chinese language gained in the course Chinese Phonetics. With the aid of elementary sentences they acquire the basic competence in Chinese syntax and thus practice the theoretical background gained in the course Chinese Grammar. During the lessons different types of conversational exercise are implemented, mainly based on the principle of substitution.
This course focuses on communication skills and aid students in developing fluency and listening comprehension in modern colloquial Chinese.
