Learning outcomes
|
The course focuses on practical language skills and covers all communicative components of the languagespeaking, writing, reading, listening comprehension, and cultural knowledge. In the third year, students further expand their knowledge of Chinese and also concentrate on translation from Chinese into Czech. The course is taught by Czech instructors as well as native speakers. The course also includes mandatory one-on-one language tutorials with a native speaker aimed at intensive practice of the material covered (1x per week) and modul Writing (1x per week). The course builds on the Integrated Chinese 1-4 series and continues with the teaching material Expressive Chinese (2021). Conversation topics: Feelings and moods 2. Appearance and perception 3. Technology in our lives 4. The importance of food in China 5. Daily routines and activities 6. The future and jobs 7. Music 8. Homes and architecture

Prerequisites

The student is expected to have language competencies equivalent to the CN4 course - Integrated Chinese 4.

Assessment methods and criteria

Oral exam, Student performance, Written exam
An intensive language course requires continuous preparation and mandatory attendance. The course includes ongoing assessment of the material covered and independent completion of homework assignments. The final exam consists of: 1. written and an oral component covering Expressive Chinese textbook 2. Successful completion of Writing module, which requires: Attendance and participation 15 %, Homework assignments 40 %, Presentation 10 % and Project 35%.
