Learning outcomes
|
The course is designed as an intensive language course with daily instruction. It focuses on practical language skills and covers all communicative components of the languagespeaking, writing, reading, listening comprehension, and cultural knowledge. In the second semester, the course builds on the previous course, Chinese 1. Students continue to expand their knowledge of the Chinese language: conversational topics are broadened, new grammatical structures are introduced, and additional characters are learned. The course is taught by Czech instructors and native speakers. The course also includes mandatory individual language consultations with a native speaker, focused on intensive practice of the material covered (1x per week) and Chinese prosody module. The course provides comprehensive instruction in the Chinese language. The second semester covers Lessons 11-20 of Integrated Chinese 2 (4th edition). Teaching materials include the textbook and workbook. Successful completion of the course is required for enrollment in the subsequent course, Chinese 3. Assessment methods and criteria

Given that this is an intensive daily language course, continuous preparation from one class to the next is essential. The course includes ongoing testing of the material covered as well as independent completion of character and grammar exercises. The final exam consists of : 1. Language skills test - assesses knowledge of grammar, vocabulary, and the writing system. The passing threshold is determined by the student's continuous work during the semester (ongoing tests, attendance). 2. Oral component - a conversation on the topics covered, assessing the ability to form sentences, understand dialogue, and answer questions. 3. Successful completion of Chinese prosody module All three components must be passed in order to successfully complete the course.
