Key learning outcomes
The goal of the Bachelor's study programme of German philology is mastering the basics of linguistics and literary science. The programme should teach the student the ability to consider the functions and forms of language, literature, value of arts and culture with respect to the distinctive features of German/Austrian culture (and also German culture from Bohemia and Moravia), history, thought and politics. The organizational structure of the study programme is in the hands of the students themselves, it provides a high degree of specialization, interdisciplinary introspection into related disciplines, it closely connects science with education, integrates the best students into research teams of the Institute for German Studies, enables to get scholarships abroad and prepares students for the master study program.

Occupational profiles of graduates with examples
A graduate can find work everywhere where the emphasis is placed on good knowledge of German language, in both written and oral form, and also in specialized Master's study programmes. We suppose that the graduate of the German Philology Bachelor's degree can not only manage to work in journalism, publishing houses, cultural and cultural-scientific institutions, but also in all areas of the manufacturing and services as a translator, interpreter, language advisor to managers and as a person apt for further training in related or non-related study fields (banking system, production, law, diplomacy etc.).
