Course content
|
This course is intended for biology students that want to master R language. This language is currently most commonly used environment for data management and analysis in many areas of biology, including zoology, botany, ecology or evolutionary biology. The contents of this course will consist of data management and their graphical presentation especially for the purpose of diploma theses. However, skills obtained in this course will be useful also later on in various jobs, including science, nature conservation or administration. Besides working with the R language, we will also learn general data management skills - how to store, process, use, and interpret them. Contents of the course: General - data in biology: obtaining, storing, processing; organization of projects; reproducible research R language - data structures in R; fromatting and sorting data; summarization and subsampling of data; graphical display, charts; preparation of text and graphical outputs for presentations; logic of data analysis in R
